This week Google has proclaimed its complete worldwide business enterprise will be driven by sustainable renewable energy starting 2017.
Google first made its promise to be solely powered by sustainable renewable energies in 2012. Since then the business entereprise has set out on an intense approach to eliminate any reliance on power generated from non-renewable fossil energy sources.
The announcement made by, Urs Hölzle, Google’s Senior Vice President for Technical Infrastructure, stated “This is a huge milestone. We were one of the first corporations to create large-scale, long-term contracts to buy renewable energy directly. Today, we are the world’s largest corporate buyer of renewable power, with commitments reaching 2.6 gigawatts (2,600 megawatts) of wind and solar energy. That’s bigger than many large utilities.”
Google is not the only one on its push to electrically power a worldwide corporation using sustainable and renewable energies. As a technology leader it has already made certain strides to be able to cut down on use of fossil energy sources.
